The Raikeshill Kennels
In 1933, Mrs. Knox bought in two puppies from a litter bred on September
21st by Mrs. McNamara Lewis, by Combwell Patjoe ex Primrose of Harewood. The
pups were a female, Hasty of Raikeshill, and a male Hector of Raikeshill. She
later bought in another male from the litter, Finn of Raikeshill, which was
registered in 1936. At one time she had their dam, Primrose of Harewood, as she
was offered for sale in a Raikeshill advertisement on behalf of her breeder and
owner, H.R.H. Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood. Primrose was by Patrick of
Ouborough ex Wealdstone Sheila.

two bitches, Loree and Restreless of Raikeshill, and a dog, Sandy of
Raikeshill.

Mrs. Knox was Chairman of the short-lived Irish Wolfhound Society, which was
started in 1937 and produced one Year Book before folding. In 1938 the Society
took an advertisement in The Dog World Annual showing the principal winners of
the Society's Photographic Ballot for that year. The Photographic Competition
was the chief activity for the year and the six photographs included in the
advertisement were selected from 77 entries. Mrs. Knox's entry was of Pansy of
Harewood, bred by H.R.H. The Princess Royal.

In 1938 Mrs. Knox registered Maureen of Raikeshill, a littersister to Hasty
and Hector. There were no more Raikeshill registrations after this date and no
hounds were officially transferred to other owners. Mrs. Knox only spent twelve
years in the breed, but had quite an effect in that short period.
